Dr. Rasmussen deserves real credit for her comprehensive post on the most recent ACIP meeting. She unpacks both the science and the theater in a way that makes the stakes unmistakable. I vehemently disagree with Cody Meissner’s claim that the American Academy of Pediatrics is making itself irrelevant by refusing to participate. The opposite is true. To join what is now a Kangaroo Panel would only legitimize a process stripped of evidence-based reasoning and bent toward predetermined political ends. The AAP’s refusal is an act of integrity, not irrelevance.
Disappointing. Hopefully your comment about “pathogenic” is not reflective of a racist attitude. The ACIP COVID immunization Workgroup worked hard for many weeks in preparation for the ACIP meeting. I think a serious scientist would be more open-minded and would adopt a different more constructive tone especially with discussions across disciplines when the stakes are high. We need to be more honest and transparent with what is known in the context of informed consent. Being dogmatic, dismissive, closed-minded, and ignoring existing evidence is not helpful.

Levi and Malone, are exaggerating, cherry-picking, misrepresenting, and lying about the evidence. You are grossly unqualified and your presentation and interpretation of the evidence demonstrated that.
Your inability to pronounce “pathogenic” is not due to race, but rather your ignorance of the field. You are, either through intention or incompetence, being dishonest about a lifesaving cornerstone of public health and your actions put people’s lives at risk. You should be ashamed of yourself.
